Sailing In Barcelona

I wanted to sail during our trip to Barcelona and decided to ask my sailing coach, Udi, for contacts. Udi introduced me to Monica who is the director of the sailing school at Club Nàutic El Masnou.

My family took the train to Port El Masnou. At first, I was nervous about sailing there because it looked as if I would be the only Opti sailor. Monica was very nice, she introduced me to the coaches and set up my boat. Then more sailors came and I wasn’t that nervous anymore.

The swell was about three feet, and there were about 15 knots of wind. We did a two-lap course for the races. The races were fun even though there were only three people.

I made friends with one of the sailors, Juan, he taught me something about how to surf waves. You could pull the sail in right before the wave gets to you and you could go really fast.  Monica then showed us the pool at the club!! I feel more confident and am probably going to go there again tomorrow.
