The Best Way To Motivate Yourself

Zflin.com, Diary of A Traveling Kid, Self Motivation, Sailing

Keeping motivation can be tricky, but it is a vital task in any activity. I have encountered this problem many times when swimming and sailing. I dreaded waking up early, to freeze my toes numb at the pool. I hated dealing with heavy wind while sailing, getting cold, and flipping. Though, now, I look forward to these events.

Being motivated allows us to perform at our best. We push our limits, work hard, and create challenging goals. If you are not motivated, you end up doing poorly. As your work loses its quality, you become less motivated, and your work deteriorates even more.

There are many ways to solve this problem, but a few stand out to me. First, I found support in my friends, we challenged each other, worked together, and each gave the other something to look forward to. I also think about the rewards at the end, giving me incentive. Other ways include keeping a reflective journal and keeping motivational posters. You can look up to role models and attempt to imitate them. It is great to observe pros and try to train the same way. You can establish good habits, and build on success. Doing each of these things has the great benefit of staying motivated.
